If several buds can be found in the axil of a supporting-leaf, the additional buds are referred to as 'accessory buds'. They are referred to as 'lateral accessory buds' if they are located laterally to the main bud (e. g. in the inflorescence of Musa – Banana and at other Monocots) (cf. also serial accessory buds).
