palate
The term 'palate' refers to a mask- or bulge-like structure at the lower-lip of some
labiate flowers (cf.
masked tubular flower). The palate may seal the
fauces partially (e. g. in
Chaenorhinum minus – Small Toadflax) or completely (e. g. in
Linaria vulgaris – Common Toadflax).
