The term 'semi-deciduous' here refers to plants which leaves are green in winter, but wither in the course of the following growing season (e. g. in Stellaria media – Common Chickweed). Semi-deciduous leaves are mostly distinctly less rough than evergreen leaves. In many plant species, only a fraction of the leaves is semi-deciduous (mostly the basal leaves), while other leaves (mostly the stem-leaves) are deciduous.
