climber
Climbing plants (climbers) have no self-supporting
stem, they rather brace on other plants or substrate (e. g. rock or walls) by means of
tendrils (e. g. in
Vitis – wine),
adhesive roots (e. g. in
Hedera – Ivy), barbs (e. g. in
Galium aparine – Cleavers),
climbing hairs (e. g. in
Humulus lupulus – Hop) or a twining
stem (e. g. in
Calystegia – False Bindweed).
