gland
Glands actively secrete substances into the environment. In plants, these are mostly nectar-glands which are located in the
flowers (e. g. in
Helleborus – Hellebore). Glands can occur also outside of
flowers, e. g. as
extrafloral nectaria (e. g. at the transition between
petiole and
lamina in
Prunus avium – Wild Cherry) or as
lime-glands (e. g. at the
leaves of
Saxifraga paniculata – Livelong Saxifrage).
