Marginal flowers are located near the edge of a compact inflorescence (e. g. flower-head, capitula, umbel). The term is mainly used if the marginal flowers differ considerably from the central flowers (e. g. Bellis – Daisy has white marginal flowers (and yellowish central flowers) or Viburnum opulus – Guelder-rose has enlarged marginal flowers).
