pasture weed
Pasture weeds are plant
species that occur on grazed, but hardly managed grassland. Typically, they are avoided from livestock and therefore gain competitive advantages. Pasture weeds are often
spinose (e. g.
Prunus spinosa – Blackthorn), have rough and hardly nutritious
leaves (e. g.
Nardus stricta – Matgrass), have a bad taste or are toxic (e. g.
Gentiana lutea – Yellow Gentian).
