rapellum
The rapellum is a part of the
silique of the Brassicaceae – Cabbage
family. It develops from 2 narrow
carpels and also comprises the
ovules. At
fruit maturity, the rapellum and the
false septum typically remain while the
fruit valves (formed by 2 sterile
carpels) open and often drop off (e. g. in
Lunaria – Honesty).
