A flower has a heterochlamydeous perianth, if the inner and outer whorl of the perianth-leaves are of different habit. The outer perianth-leaves are referred to as sepals (calyx-leaves), the inner as petals (corolla-leaves) (e. g. in Rosa – Rose) (cf. also perigone)
