toothed leaf-margin
A toothed leaf-margin has incisions or notches that reach less than approx. 25 % of the width of the
lamina (cf. also
lobed lamina). The main differentiation is between a
crenate leaf-margin (with obtuse or rounded teeth, e. g. in
Glechoma hederacea – Ground-ivy) and a
dentate leaf-margin (with acute teeth, e. g. in
Carpinus – Hornbeam).
