A ray flower is a zygomorphic flower in which 1 or several perianth-leaves form an elongate tongue- or banner-shape plane. Ray-flowers can mainly be found in the Asteraceae – Daisy family (cf. also tubular-flowers). They are arranged in a dense capitulum or flower-head which often appear to be a single flower (e. g. in Taraxacum – Dandelions or Bellis – Daisy).
