pollination unit
A pollination unit represents the structural unit that is relevant for pollination. In most
species, a pollination unit is formed by a single
flower. However, a
flower may also comprise several pollination units (e. g. in
Iris – Iris). On the other hand, several
flowers may constitute a pollination unit (
pseudanthium, e. g. in many Asteraceae – Daisy
family members).
